Rue Bourbon Salcedo

One of the many things that me and my bff have in common is that we both love to explore and try new places, such as restaurants. We are always on the lookout for cool spots around the Metro where we can dine, hangout, and, okay, I'm gonna be real, take photos. Lol I don't know how we always manage to do this while eating, but believe it or not, this is our way of relaxation (and shopping too but that's a different story). We usually spend our bonding nights at coffee shops and cafes but last Wednesday, we found ourselves in a totally different place. We chose flavored beers over our usual frozen coffee beverages. Yup, we had our midweek night cap at Rue Bourbon in Salcedo Village, Makati!

Dane and I were both first timers at Rue Bourbon. Though I've heard about this place before, I never had the chance to drop by because, to be honest, I'm not much of a drinker. I used to get palpitations whenever I drink alcoholic beverages, and I get tipsy right after I finished my first bottle of San Mig Light. Lol But for the past few days, something weird has gotten into me, because I kept on bugging Dane to go on an "inuman" with me. HAHA. So when I got an invitation to try Rue Bourbon Salcedo, I knew this was God's way of saying, "Go on and have fun". LOL Well, we did have fun! Scroll down and see what we ate and drank that night.

Rose Beer and Caramel Beer
Big Ass- P280 | Glass- P120

Everyone who has been to Rue Bourbon has this to say--they have the best caramel beer in town. So even before I entered the place (and sat on one of those high chairs that's clearly not for short girls like me haha), I have already decided that I'd try the famous caramel beer before anything else. And boy, it was really good. The sweet smell and taste of caramel is just enough to balance the bitterness of the beer. There's still the aftertaste, though (which I don't like), but it's not that strong. I was actually almost convinced that caramel beer was the right drink for me until I tasted Dane's drink, the rose beer, which is Rue Bourbon's newest flavored beer. It is sweeter than the caramel beer and doesn't have that bitter aftertaste--it's almost like juice. But I don't know, maybe it's because I only had a few sips.

Beef Rue Nachos
A hefty serving of tortilla chips topped with cheese, jalapenos and spiced beef (P450)

Another thing that Dane and I both love? Spicy foods!!! This Beef Rue Nachos is probably the best nachos I've ever tasted! A single serving is enough to be shared by 4 people so this one is very sulit.

Some of the bloggers with their big ass flavored beers! Can't imagine myself drinking from those huge glasses but I might give it a shot next time. We also got to try some of Rue Bourbon's latest additions to their menu. Let's start with the platters.

Sausage Platter

The sausage platter consists of three types of sausages- Hungarian, Bratwurst and Andouille. All of them were tasty and meaty but if I were to choose a favorite, it would be the Andouille because it's spicy. My kind of pulutan! ;)

Wings Platter

Seasoned chicken wings that come in three different tastes--sweet Southern sauce (Louisana chicken), Parmesan cheese and spicy Bourbon style sauce. Now I'm hungry!

Oyster Platter

Probably the best out of all the three platters that I've tasted is the Oyster Platter. It consists of Oyster Rockefeller, Baked Pesto Cream Oysters and Oysters in Carnival Barbecue Sauce. Yummy!!!

We also tried their Bomber Set--the Tequila Sunrise Bomber and the blue one which I forgot the name (huhu sorry! I think it's Blue Lagoon mixed with something). If you're not familiar with bombers (like me) such as the Tequila Sunrise Bomber, it's actually done by dropping a shot of Grenadine into a glass of Tequila Sunrise.

More mouthwatering dishes! Seafood Jambalaya is so damn gooood!

Sausage Jambalaya

Chicken Jambalaya

Had a shot of Patron XO Cafe Dark too! It's too strong for me, though.

We also got to watch some awesome bartending tricks c/o Rue Bourbon's bartenders. See the video here.

Here's another good deal by Rue Bourbon. See that pearl necklace that I'm wearing? You can actually buy it from them at P150 and exchange it for a cocktail drink on your next visit. Cool, right?

Dane and I both enjoyed our stay at Rue Bourbon and we are already planning to go back soon, this time with our friends! You should, too. You'll love it. But if you're far from Makati, don't worry because they have branches in The Fort, Eastwood and Skyranch Tagaytay. Thank you, Rue Bourbon Salcedo, for having us! To know more information about them, you can check out their Facebook Page, Twitter and Instagram
