Sinulog 2014

The time has come for me to bombard you with loads of photos from my first ever Sinulog experience. For those who are not familiar with this event, Sinulog is an annual festival held on the third Sunday of January in honor of the miraculous image of the Sto. Niño. The grand celebration happens in Cebu City, Philippines but it is also celebrated in other provinces such as Southern Leyte and Misamis Oriental. Sinulog, which is of pagan origin, commemorates the country's pagan past and its acceptance of Roman Catholicism.

A street parade, aka the Sinulog Grand Parade, caps off the festival's nine-day celebration. Participants from all over Cebu (some even come from other provinces) dancing to the beat of the drums, trumpets and gongs while wearing bright colored costumes is the main feature of this parade.

The participants of the parade weren't only adults; there were children too. I was quite amazed on the amount of energy that kept them alive and kicking for this whole day event. When I told my mom about this, she said that these children are devotees of Sto. Niño and that is why they never get tired. ♥

I enjoyed watching the parade coz aside from the fact that I love seeing colorful things, it also warms my heart to see a lot of Sto. Niño images everywhere.

Whoops! There were also celebrities who came to join the festival. The crowd went wild upon seeing Maya (Jodie Sta. Maria), Sir Chief (Richard Yap), Maja Salvador and John Lloyd Cruz. Other stars were also there like Marian Rivera, JC de Vera, Empress Schuck and Alden Richards. SAYANG DI KO NAKITA SI ALDEN! huhuhu lols

Met up with Greiz and her siblings and friends during the parade. Then we walked around Fuente Osmeña Circle again! Walang katapusang lakad! HAHA

James had to stop and take a photo of this guy. Lol Kiss talaga? Di pwedeng henna na lang? Si kuya talaga o! :)))

#ootd break. :3 Bought this shirt the night before coz I was planning to do a DIY kinda top. Pero wala kaming scissors! Huhuhu Tried borrowing from the hotel's front desk but the receptionist said someone borrowed it already. :((( #outfitfail Babawi ako next year! CHOZ

Of course, if there's a street parade, then there's also a street party! Everyone's getting wild and wet (with alcohol and body paint)!

James and I looking so clean and fresh before getting into the party scene.

After a few hours of partying, here we are looking sweaty with painted faces and wet hair! It was inevitable, guys. Actually, kami na ata pinakamalinis dun. Others looked as if they were drowned in a sea of paint! LOL

However, due to our early flight the following day, James and I had to go back to our hotel before 10 PM so we can finish packing our stuff. But before we did, we had a quick dinner at, of course, Zubuchon again! Hahaha Can't get enough of this restaurant! :3

Over all, I had an amazing time in Cebu during this short trip. But I still want to go back and experience Sinulog again. This time, in a crazier, wilder, more fun and spontaneous kinda way! Yikes! Not sure what I mean though. LOL Basta, I'm definitely coming back. Who wants to come? Tara! The more, the merrier! Wehehe Anyway, I'm leaving you now with this short video of some random party people who were partying the night away. Ah, Sinulog. Nakakamiss kaaaa! Next year ulit! :P
